The Global Compliance Office is responsible for oversight of the Company’s Regulatory Compliance Program and function, including the effective operation of the Program. The Program is designed to promote compliance with regulatory obligations worldwide and to assist in making the Company aware of the laws and regulations that affect it, and the risks associated with failing to comply. The Global Compliance Office also independently assesses and monitors the effectiveness of a broad range of regulatory compliance processes and business practices against potential legal, regulatory, fraud and reputation risks, and helps to ensure significant issues are escalated and proactively mitigated.
The legal intern will work directly with attorneys to support work in areas including data security/privacy, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing, anti-fraud and anti-corruption. Typical assignments will include researching novel legal issues, drafting memoranda for active cases, and helping attorneys draft internal guidance/policy memoranda, among other matters. In this role, the legal intern will gain a greater understanding of in-house legal roles, financial services compliance, and corporate governance.
The legal intern will be responsible for the following:

Drafting memoranda for active cases
Assisting attorneys with drafting internal guidance/policy memoranda
Assisting in other legal and compliance matters
Required skills and qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled in law school, must have completed their second year of law school, and must have: (1) a very strong academic background (GPA of 3.0 or greater); (2) excellent research and writing skills; and (3) an interest in financial services compliance and corporate governance. Applicants should be highly-motivated and self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
