The Land Records Specialist is a key member of the division support team; this is a mid-level position with opportunities for further advancement.  This position is responsible for supporting land transactions, land records and reporting across Hancock Forest Management – Western Gulf Division operating areas.  The Specialist will assist in the preparation of information for land sales, dispositions, annual appraisals, client inquiries, the oversight of the ad valorem tax payment system and support management decisions on an as-needed basis. The Land Records Specialist is specifically responsible for negotiating surface damages for easements and preparing and reviewing land transaction forms and contracts.  These tasks are to be performed in a team environment involving the appropriate Hancock Forest Management (HFM), Hancock Natural Resource Group (HNRG), and Hancock Timber Resource Group (HTRG) personnel.


This position can be located in Shreveport or Mansfield, Louisiana.



  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with HFM divisional personnel, other appropriate HFM, HTRG, and HNRG personnel
  • Provide analysis and reporting on properties as requested
  • Service the information needs of teams in multiple locations
  • Assist operations personnel with pipeline crossings and well site/well pad remediation
  • Provide support to the Manager of Dispositions and Asset Evaluation
  • Provide primary support for HFM Land Record requests across the Division
  • Provide primary support for surface related mineral revenues from R.O.W., permits, seismic surveys, etc.
  • Support the team effort to establish and maintain the HFM business process for land records management across the Division
  • Communicate land related service needs, expectations, and objectives in a timely and cooperative manner
  • Support audit processes of the primary property statistics
  • Support the development and implementation of property disposition strategies
  • Assist with land records compilation and title review of timberland properties as part of acquisition, individual tract sales, and property dispositions
  • Receive offers, negotiate terms, and execute sales contract(s)
  • Support HBU land sales and ROW program
  • Provide support for HTRG's acquisition efforts
  • Serve as Liaison between HTRG and outside counsel
  • Special projects as requested or needed 


  • A Bachelor's degree in Forestry or a closely related curriculum
  • A minimum of five years' experience in land records management and forestry operations
  • Strong GIS skills
  • Proficient writing skills to prepare professional reports and management plans
  • Knowledge in area's land title, negotiation and contracts, investment modeling, management plans, land records, budgets, database systems, surface revenues, ROW, mineral rights, and project management
  • Strong organizational and analytical skill
  • Must be a highly motivated team player
