Job Summary:

The objective of this position is to support/manage all rule automation aspects of the process improvement and digital transformation initiatives (from a business perspective) in Asia, to improve business process efficiencies and make the processes more customer-centric. The role will help to shape and drive process excellence initiatives including business process re-engineering, technology implementation for end to end business operations perspective.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensure successful delivery of underwriting & claims rules automation as part of Regional business process improvement, operational efficiency and customer centricity projects.
  • Demonstrate thought-leadership in formulating and executing strategic plans on process governance and excellence around business rules automation.
  • Working closely with the BUs, define the overall outcomes, scope, governance and projects required to deliver the transformation and achieve the organization’s ambition.
  • Recommend improvements in processes and procedures to deliver best practice UW & Claims system.
  • Harvest UW & Claims process automation opportunities and monitor performance savings realization targets.
  • Direct and participate in all relevant meetings to develop, share and embed the UW & Claims automation capability with all relevant stakeholders
  • Develop appropriate solutions to achieve operational effectiveness across end to end UW & Claims process. Utilize analytics and implement business rules for faster UW & Claims processing.
  • Assist in the implementation of UW & Claims decision management system by translating UW & Claims policies and procedures into business rules that can be executed in a decision management system.
  • Assess current UW & Claims processes and identify process improvement opportunities to help improve the Straight through processing rate for UW & Claims assessment.
  • Work with business and IT team in an agile environment and help define the functional architecture of
  • decision management system
  • Assist project team in impact and risk assessments on the business performance dimensions and FTE impact
  • Document analysis outputs including business and user requirements, UW & Claims rules and procedures
  • Maintain a working knowledge of rules management system in order to deliver rules enhancement forefficient UW & Claims processing.

  • Proven and in-depth experience (10+ years) in Underwriting and Claims Operations and Business Rules.
  • A strong facilitator with a delivery and execution background with proven experience of taking
  • ownership.
  • Medical Education background will be a strong preference.
  • Ability to engage at both Cx level as well as at operations floor level and adapt approaches to drive
  • change.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Domain knowledge on Operations/Technology/Strategy within the Insurance business would be critical
  • for the role to able to add value and partner with the business sponsors.
Skills/ Behaviors / Attributes:
  • Acumen to spot opportunities and develop them into viable projects
  • Knowledge and proficiency in project management tools, techniques, and systems development
  • methodologies and lifecycles, including Waterfall and Agile will be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of financial services, and customer experience.
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to exercise flexibility and judgment in a dynamic environment with
  • forward-thinking mindset
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Highly effective influencing and interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate effectively at all

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of analysis and operation improvement methodologies
  • Good understanding of local regulatory compliance and requirements
  • High proficiency in written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to clearly express business processes and ideas verbally and in written English
