Risk Management is an independent risk function which seeks to provide assurances to a variety of stakeholders that risks are appropriately managed and in alignment with risk appetite across all business lines and functional areas in the Company.

Reporting to the AVP Risk Management, the Manager or Director, Project & Change Risk Management will focus on risk introduced by programs, projects and initiatives in the Canadian Division.  The successful candidate will be focused on a transformational program that is introducing new technology, innovative customer engagement models and process enhancements through an agile delivery model.

In this role, the incumbent will work closely with business staff and leaders, project management teams, subject matter experts and other oversight groups to ensure the project is effectively managing risk. In the role, you will champion and oversee risk awareness, identification, rating, monitoring and mitigation activities for significant projects within the Canadian Division, and to ensure that the Division operates within the Company’s Risk Management Programs while driving change.
The position requires pragmatic business judgment and leadership skills, technical subject matter expertise in operational risk, and highly effective communication and influencing skills with staff and management and will encompass a variety of risk activities.
  • In this “second line of defense” role, provide an independent assessment of operational risks that have the potential to negatively impact the project, the business objectives or the company
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders using leadership skills, tact and influence to deliver oversight that adds value in a constructive approach
  • Develop an understanding of the business drivers, success criteria and potential pitfalls of the change being introduced to support your evaluation of the appropriateness of the controls intended to prevent or reduce the impact of those risks
  • Facilitate risk discussions with a broad range of stakeholders to elicit the identification of risks that have the potential to negatively impact the project or business objectives
  • In an advisory capacity, provide coaching to Canadian Division leaders and project stakeholders to improve risk assessment skills, raise awareness and promote a healthy risk culture
  • Share expertise in the development and use of Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and Key Performance Indicators to monitor and proactively address known and emerging risks
  • Develop and maintain project risk reporting while providing analysis and insights for key stakeholders
  • Share information with your peers throughout the Global risk management community to learn from others and continually improve our practices
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit, Compliance and Information Security to provide effective and complementary risk oversight while sharing relevant information
  • Share your expertise through presentations and training for internal audiences
