The Retail Markets Insurance Strategic Projects IT team is seeking an experienced, motivated, and results focused Project Leader to manage medium and large-sized projects as part of the Strategic Planning & Project Management Team.  The candidate will have proven project management experience and will be prepared to expand their experience in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Lead, plan and manage projects ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within budget and within quality targets
  • Collaborate with Business, IT stakeholders, project teams and vendors through effective communication and “we work as one” mentality
  • Facilitate project risks and issue identification to ensure effective management and mitigation or resolution
  • Manage and facilitate breakdown of project scope with Teams to enable task organization and understanding of project work packages and dependencies
  • Manage, track and report on project expenses, health and status
  • Effectively communicate with project sponsor(s) and key stakeholders
  • Ensure proper change and release management for successful delivery and implementation to production
  • Ensure practical application of Canadian Division and Global Project Management methodologies (Waterfall and/or Agile) as applicable
  • Partner with Contract Management to build and maintain Vendor relationships while ensuring successful vendor deliveries as it relates to Strategic Project initiatives within Retail Insurance
  • Lead geographically and culturally diverse cross-functional teams by promoting collaboration, innovative thinking and effective problem solving
  • Help to identify and execute on opportunities to stream line processes and project delivery practices to enable quicker time to market for Strategic project deliverables

  • 3-5 years experience managing projects with a demonstrated ability to deliver medium to complex projects
  • Strong risk and financial management skills to establish controls, track resources/costs, and continuously identify, prioritize and mitigate project risks
  • Proven success in managing and building relationships with internal teams and with external vendors
  • Solid knowledge and proficiency in project management tools, techniques, and systems development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and lifecycles, including expert use of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Office 365 and Planview
  • Strong problem solver with leadership skills including conflict resolution, delegation, motivation, negotiation, and coaching
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within Business and IT settings
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills which includes experience presenting to Senior Management – both Business and IT
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Learn and adapt quickly – critical thinker and effective problem solver
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels
  • Effective conflict management and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills 
  • Proven ability to partner and collaborate
Nice to Have 
  • Post secondary degree, preferably in a related discipline
  • Past experience working in a matrix organization
  • Experience working in Financial Services and/or specifically insurance – life & mortgage creditor
  • PMP designation is preferred, combined with successful PM experience
  • Certified Scrum Master and/or previous Agile delivery experience
