Job Description Summary

The Business Analyst, Private Markets is responsible for supporting Manulife Asset Management Private Markets’ sales, marketing, client services, and management teams as it relates to their data needs. Serving as the gatekeeper for all Private Markets data, the role is responsible for gathering and validating data received from the multiple sources that Private Markets leverages for its data needs, establishing a data warehouse to centralize all Private Markets data, and providing data points to facilitate updates of sales and marketing materials. In addition, the Business Analyst will also support the sales, marketing and management teams for ad hoc data needs (e.g., internal or external presentations, sales RFPs / RFIs senior management data requests).
 
General Accountability:

The Business Analyst, Private Markets is responsible for supporting Manulife Asset Management Private Markets’ sales, marketing, client services, and management teams as it relates to their data needs. Serving as the gatekeeper for all Private Markets data, the role is responsible for gathering and validating data received from the multiple sources that Private Markets leverages for its data needs, establishing a data warehouse to centralize all Private Markets data, and providing data points to facilitate updates of sales and marketing materials.  In addition, the Business Analyst will also support the sales, marketing and management teams for ad hoc data needs (e.g., internal or external presentations, sales RFPs / RFIs senior management data requests). 

Responsibilities Include:
  • Working with the various Finance, Accounting, Compliance and third party vendors (i.e. ACLI, IPD) teams to build data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting and client requests
  • Streamline and improve data collection and validation processes and communication while creating efficiencies
  • Ensuring granularity of database allows for multiple data cuts (e.g., by geography, legal entity, portfolio holdings, quality)
  • Work collaboratively with marketing, operations, and sales to execute on data rollout through print and digital collateral
  • Support the sales process by collecting, calculating and vetting data responses
  • Respond to various ad-hoc requests received from marketing, sales, relationship management and portfolio management teams; special projects as requested.  Provide writing support (prose or presentation creation) on an as needed basis
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in business, finance, economics, accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum two years financial services experience preferred
  • Knowledge of asset management business, financial terms and products.  
  • Experience with any of the asset classes in the Private Markets business (refer to the firm description) a plus.  
  • Exposure to real estate and / or private fixed income (private debt, commercial mortgages), or at least alternative asset class back office experience also a bonus
  • Access database skills required.  Superior Excel / Word / PowerPoint skills required, including pivot tables, macros, formatting and data presentation

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic and deadline driven environment, and being flexible and adaptable when dealing with change
